Glacier Bay

The first recorded observation of Glacier Bay in 1750 showed the glacier reaching all the way to the mouth of the bay. Today it has receded approximately 60 miles, leaving a number of smaller glaciers. The resultant fjord is as much as 1416 feet deep, with mountains up to 6780 feet above sea level. More information about the park can be found at www.nps.gov/glba
