Kai-iwi Lakes

This is a group of fresh water lakes near the coast. Fine for trout fishing and water skiing, but
not all that interesting to us. However, there was a trail that led through 2 kilometers of pasture
to an isolated beach, and there we had a ball! This was a marked trail leading along fence lines,
with user discretion to be applied as to which side of the fence to be on. Most of the cows were
more afraid of us than we were.


































We then wandered a couple of kilometers along the beach. One of the gems was this wonderful
little waterfall. Just enough height and volume to cure any thoughts one might be having, except
to remember to breathe.












































Heard about the earthquake in Christchurch from various concerned friends in the States, but
we’re a thousand kilometers north, and were blissfully unaware.
