We planned to take a float plane to a stream likely to have bears and salmon, but the ceiling was just a little above treetop heaight, winds were forecast to gust to 65 kts at our destination, and it was raining. Ketchikan averages a little over 13 FEET of rain a year, so this was not exactly a surprise, but it was disappointing. So we wandered on foot and bus, seeing eagles, salmon, totem poles, and the office of Ketchikans most famous business woman.
Fighting upstream to mate and die! Can anyone guess what's floating in the 40 degree Pacific Ocean behind the eagle? Snorklers! That was actually on of the shore excursions offered!! They looked like they were having fun, but we managed to restrain ourselves from diving in and joining them.
