Royal Princess

And now we join the Royal Princess. 592' long, 30,200 tons, 710 passengers, 381 crew. Small enough to visit some pretty small places, but big enough to have lots of activities aboard. We have a very nice cabin with balcony on the starboard side, you can probably figure out where.

Continuing down the river we stopped at two small cities where Margie found the Brazilian equivalent of a Goodwill store, and then one tiny village where Margie and her goody bag were attacked

After surviving that, we took a final hike into the jungle.

Throughout this narrative we've been trying to convey the magnitude of this river. It's annual flow is larger than the annual flow of the next 8 largest rivers in the world. But the only way we could really picture it, after floating downstream for several thousand kilometers, is by looking across it. This picture is taken 100 kilometers upstream from the mouth, and is looking straight across the river. Even at this width there is enough depth to comfortably float our ship, and a significant current.

Great to see new photos on your blog. I could tell which stateroom was yours. Love the swinging on the vine photos and the photos of the plants and animals. Will be glad to see you both when you return.
