Machu Picchu defies rational description. And these pictures don't begin to do it justice. We'd seen the pictures, just as you are now. But it wasn't until we saw the place in all it's awe inspiring splendor that we understood the setting and scope. Incredible is the best we can do.We're here in the rainy, off, season. If you ever have the opportunity to come, do it at this time of year. It's rainy season. It rained every day. For about 2 hours total. There was only one day in the entire week that we never saw the sun. In return the crowds are a fraction of what they are
in dry, high, season. And the colors are so vibrant. GREEN!!! Verdant! Beautiful.One particular thing we noticed was that the Inca liked stairs. Margie's knees don't like stairs at all, and Phil's lungs don't like them at these lofty altitudes, but our slow pace allowed us to absorb the scenery all that much more.

Looks like u are having a great time. We are enjoying your posts, but if you wanted to ride a horse, why didn't you stau home? ;) The architecture is incredible! Some of the places look like things we saw in Ireland! Have fun, we look forward to your next post. --Bill & Judy
